SLG National Squad and Development Pool and Junior players, as at 18th Aug 2021

  • For Sri Lankan passport holders (sports Ministry requirement)
  • Trials will be the main basis for selections and include SLGU sanctioned events
  • Points will be made on personal discipline like attendance, punctuality, team work and behaviour (5 = Excellent to 1 + Poor)
  • Points will be allocated for level of fitness based on timing for running 2,100 Meters plus or minus 10 minutes men, 2,100 meters plus or minus 11 minutes for Women and push ups plus or minus 25 (5 = Excellent to 1 = Poor)
  • Prepared to do at least a 3 days per week exercise program

National Squad

  • Amateur golfers
  • Under 35 years of age as at 31st July 2021
  • Scoring average 5 over par (5 Handicap =<) or below
  • Players who are over 30 and have had overseas playing exposure will have to perform at a higher level Handicap of 1 to 2 strokes
  • A BMI (Body Mass Index) under 30 (thirty) Or waist must be at least half or less than height

Development Pool

  • Amateur golfers
  • Under 25 years of age
  • Scoring average 12 over par (12 Handicap =<) or below
  • A BMI index under 29 (twenty nine) Or waist must be half or less than height

Junior Squad

  • Students
  • Under 19 years of age
  • Scoring average 18 over par (18 Handicap =<) or below
  • BMI does not apply.

Note;  National Selection outside of National Pool

  • Sri Lankans of any age will be eligible to qualify to represent the National team.
  • Players over 35 years of age will be given a plus (+) 1 Handicap. Thus encouraging younger players to gain experience.
  • Sri Lankan Nationals who are golfers living and training overseas, may convey their performance with the score cards duly authenticated by the coach, with the length of the course and the course rating (slope rating), clearly stated. A letter of intent, to represent Sri Lanka, will be required.
  • Golfers living in Sri Lanka, who are working or schooling will be permitted to play (under supervision), after school hours or during weekends, when appropriate, and submit their cards.
  • Scoring will not be the sole criteria, fitness levels, discipline, past record and age may be considered as well.
